Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, MD, Form & Soul is a custom sculpture studio dedicated to the art of turning a loved one’s presence into permanent form.
Founded on the belief that a life lived deserves more than a fleeting image, we specialize in crafting personalized bust sculptures that capture the unique character and quiet dignity of every subject. An old-world symbol of status, brought full circle for the ones that matter most.
Working primarily from submitted photographs, we create a bridge between memory and the physical world, ensuring that their essence is captured within true form.
Who We Are
With a foundation built on nearly three decades of professional design, public art, and global sculpture fabrication experience, Ryan Nau founded Form & Soul to bring a new level of precision, accessibility, and emotional connection to the timeless tradition of classical sculpture.
Throughout his career, Ryan has collaborated with clients around the world — from designing eCommerce platforms for Hollywood celebrities to hand-painting custom drum kits for platinum-selling rock bands. His multidisciplinary background spans the full spectrum of graphic arts, advanced computer modeling, and animation, as well as architectural illustration, fashion design, and yes, life-size sculptures.
Ryan has crafted and installed sculptures internationally and worked as an apprentice to the American fine artist Steven Weitzman, here in DC.
Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Montgomery County, Ryan’s decades of design consultation experience, combined with modern technologies and advanced digital sculpting techniques, have allowed him to develop a contemporary approach to preservation through timeless physical form.
Through Form & Soul, Ryan seeks to create more than sculpture alone. Each piece is designed to serve as a lasting bridge between memory and the physical world — preserving the presence of the people and companions who shape our lives most.
